Paddington Station is one of Britain’s most well-known and best-loved stations. From here, you can take the Tube to go to destinations all around London, or you can board commuter, regional, or long-distance trains headed for towns and cities as far away as Cornwall. The station itself is close to many tourist attractions including Kensington Gardens, the Serpentine, Hyde Park, and Regent’s Park.

You can get an up-to-date map of London Paddington station at the Network Rail website.

Ordinarily, when making a shortlist of hotels near a train station, we only choose those that have a rating of at least 8/10 at Booking.com — where only verified guests can rate and review hotels — and at least 4/5 in TripAdvisor and Google Reviews. However, nearly all of the hotels nearest to Paddington Station have a score of only 7-8 at Booking. We therefore decided to highlight first those hotels with the highest ratings within 350 meters (around 5 minutes’ walk) of Paddington Station. There are five of them listed in table form. Next, we describe our top three picks, among the hotels in the area, chosen based on proximity to the station,  quality, and price. Finally, we summarize in a table all the hotels within 5 minutes’ walking distance of Paddington Station that scored at least 7/10 at Booking and at least 3.5/5 at TA and Google.

1. Hilton London Paddington

Ordinarily, the Hilton London Paddington wouldn’t make it to our shortlist, on account of its Booking.com rating of 7.4 / 10. (As mentioned above, we usually only choose those rated at least 8/10). However, the Hilton’s ratings at TripAdvisor and Google Reviews are actually good enough: 4/5 each. Plus you really cannot beat the convenience of staying at a hotel that is right next — and in fact connected by a footbridge — to London Paddington station.

A night at Hilton London Paddington starts at £143. They offer a variety of double, twin, and triple rooms, and they even have a family room and a family suite that can accommodate up to four adults, perfect for those travelling with family or friends. There’s a lift and air conditioning (facilities you shouldn’t take for granted and should always check before booking!) and previous guests report that the rooms are comfortable and clean, if a tad pricey.

  • 12 meters from Paddington station
  • 7.4 / 10 at Booking.com, 4 / 5 at TripAdvisor, 4 / 5 at Google Reviews

2. Hotel Indigo London Paddington

This Hotel Indigo is located in one of those little side streets near Paddington station, which is less than 2 minutes’ walk away from the hotel. They offer a variety of double and twin rooms, with one-night stays starting at £161 during the lean season — pricey, but hotels in the area generally are (which goes some way to explaining why so few get stellar marks from previous guests, particularly when it comes to value for money). There’s a leafy square nearby, a needed sight for sore eyes, but it’s nearly just as easy to walk all the way to Hyde Park, which is just 7 minutes’ away on foot.

  • 120 meters from Paddington station
  • 7.7 / 10 at Booking.com, 4.5 / 5 at TripAdvisor, 4.1 / 5 at Google Reviews

3. The Crescent Hyde Park

Among our top three picks, this one has the highest ratings for many reasons: it’s clean, comfortable, quiet, with quick check-in, great staff, and a marvelous location. We made it our pick for best hotel near Paddington Station because, although it has similar ratings to those of Roseate House London and the Westbourne Hyde Park, its starting rates are considerably lower.

The Crescent Hyde Park is 5 minutes’ walk from Paddington Station. It’s less than 5 minutes’ walk to Lancaster Gate Tube station, which is on the Central line, one of the few Tube lines that Paddington Station is not a part of, making it really handy for getting to places that are best reached by the Central line. Five minutes’ walk from the hotel and you’re already at the edges of Hyde Park or Kensington Gardens. And the hotel has a family room good for 4 people, so it’s a great choice for those travelling in groups. Be aware though that there is no lift in the hotel so if you have mobility issues, or if you have heavy luggage, do request a room on the ground floor.
