Nothing quite says “Paris” like the Eiffel Tower. The City of Light is known for many things — art, architecture, couture, cuisine, a certain way of life, all perhaps closer to what it means to be French and Parisian — and yet it is this wrought iron giant that still leaps quickest to mind, especially to visitors.

If it’s your first time in Paris (and even when it isn’t!) you might want to stay nearby: see the Eiffel Tower from your window, enjoy the nighttime light show, and get into photographic position at daybreak to make the most of the early morning light.

And yet you’ll also want to be in good position to explore the rest of the city and enjoy all that Paris has to offer.

Why not go for the best of both worlds and stay in a hotel that is near both the Eiffel Tower and a Metro / RER station?

The Trocadéro is one of the best vantage points for viewing and taking photos of the Eiffel Tower, particularly the balcony at the Palais de Chaillot. Trocadéro Metro station, just across the street, is a stop in both Line 6 and Line 9 of the Paris Métro and makes commuting to the city’s other places of interest easy and convenient. The airport bus from CDG — which also goes past the Arc de Triomphe — has a stop here.

The Bir-Hakeim Metro station is a very short walking distance to, and on the same side of the river as, the Eiffel Tower. The Champ de Mars–Tour Eiffel station of the RER C line is also nearby, giving you plenty of commuting options. And a bonus: it’s right by the Pont de Bir-Hakeim, a steel bridge and viaduct that is gorgeous in its own right and makes the perfect frame for the Eiffel Tower.

We’ve found for you 11 hotels with great reviews and ratings within 350 meters (around 5 minutes’ walk) of the Trocadero or Bir-Hakeim Metro stations. To ensure quality, all the shortlisted hotels had to have a rating of at least 8/10 at Booking.com — where only verified guests can rate and review hotels — and at least 4/5 in TripAdvisor and Google Reviews. (That’s why some hotels didn’t make the cut; for example, the Hôtel Mercure Paris Centre Tour Eiffel, which is only rated 7.7 at Booking.com, and the wonderful Résidence Charles Floquet, which is 550 meters to the nearest Metro station.)

The top 3 hotels are described in more detail below and all 11 are summarized in the table that follows.

1. Hôtel Palais De Chaillot

If you’re looking for a hotel that has high ratings and reasonable prices — or as reasonable as you can get for good Paris hotels within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower — the Hôtel Palais De Chaillot is your best bet. It’s only 250 meters (3-4 minutes) to the Trocadero Metro station and 400 meters (6 minutes) to the actual Palais de Chaillot, probably the best vantage point for viewing and taking photos with the Eiffel Tower.

Staying nearby means that you can get there before most everyone else does and make use of the golden hour just after sunrise. Then, when the crowds start to descend, you can simply walk back to your hotel and enjoy a nice, leisurely breakfast.

There are also supermarkets in the vicinity of the hotel, so you can easily pick up food and other supplies for the day.

Aside from the usual double and rooms, Hôtel Palais De Chaillot also has single rooms, so it’s perfect if you’re travelling alone. Children are welcome and pets are allowed are allowed for an extra charge of €20 per night.
