The 14 Best Hostels in Paris near the Metro

A way to:

  • see Paris without breaking the bank,
  • meet fellow travellers, and
  • easily access public transportation, thereby
  • saving on transportation costs and
  • minimizing carbon footprint?

Oui, s’il vous plait!

Savvy travellers — even those who don’t normally consider themselves hostel-staying sort of people — know hostels are often a great option for accommodations, especially in expensive cities like Paris. All that’s needed for a comfortable stay is a little research…and we’ve done quite a bit of that for you.

Note: Accommodations are shortlisted based on their review scores on Booking.com and TripAdvisor, as well as their distance from the train station as determined through Google Maps. We are not connected in any way with any of the properties listed, and the best accommodations are selected based on a combination of reviews, rankings, nearness to the train station, and best value for money. Affiliate links are used in this article; when you book, we may earn a small commission from the booking platform, but the price stays the same for you.

Our Choice

Given the chance, we would go for The People Hostel – Paris 12. It’s hard to argue with those excellent scores in both Booking.com and TripAdvisor, and its location is super convenient:

  • only 0.2 km to both Dugommier Metro Station and Daumesnil Metro Station;
  • a short distance from the River Seine;
  • close to a couple of supermarkets;
  • a stone’s throw away from Gare de Bercy; and
  • walking distance to Gare de Lyon.

There are a variety of rooms available — both dorm rooms and private rooms — and the price, starting at €21 a night, is pretty good for Paris. They also allow children in their private rooms, something that can’t be said for all hostels (so if you’re travelling with children, make sure to check!).

That said, there’s also a good reason why we included the Adveniat Paris in this list, even though it’s a bit farther away from a Metro station (0.4 km from both Franklin D. Roosevelt Metro Station and Champs Elysées-Clemenceau Metro Station, to be specific, but that’s not too far, and some exits might be nearer). The list of places from which the Adveniat is a 2.5-km walk or less is practically a roll call of some of Paris’ most famous attractions:

  • the Eiffel Tower
  • the Arc de Triomphe
  • the River Seine
  • the Musée d’Orsay
  • the Champs-Élysées
  • the Grand Palais
  • the Petit Palais
  • the Jardin des Tuileries
  • the Louvre

Not bad for a hostel, right? And the property is a credit to itself too: greenery, a lounge with bookshelves full of books, a score of 8.5 and 4.5 at Booking.com and TripAdvisor, respectively. There isn’t much else you could ask for, really.

Whichever you choose, make sure it fits your own personality, comfort level, and travel needs. And smile…you’re in Paris!
