The 6 Best Apartments and B&Bs (plus 2 Hostels) near Florence Santa Maria Novella Station
Florence. Firenze. The heart of the Italian renaissance — halfway between Milan and Rome — brimming with art and architecture created by some of the greatest artists in history. It’s also the capital of Tuscany, an ideal base for exploring the lush vineyards, medieval hill towns, and cypress-lined roads of the region. There are many reasons why people come to Florence and, fortunately, it’s easy to get to, with fast trains from Milan and Rome arriving regularly at Florence’s central station, the Santa Maria Novella (SMN). If you’re planning to do a lot of exploring, it’s a good idea to stay nearby.
Note: Accommodations are shortlisted based on their review scores on Booking.com and TripAdvisor, as well as their distance from the train station as determined through Google Maps. We are not connected in any way with any of the properties listed, and the best accommodations are selected based on a combination of reviews, rankings, nearness to the train station, and best value for money. Affiliate links are used in this article; when you book, we may earn a small commission from the booking platform, but the price stays the same for you.
We’re not gonna lie: those nearly floor-to-ceiling windows — including from the bathtub! — and location a stone’s throw away from Firenze SMN make 7 Florence B&B a really tempting option. Their prices, starting at $70 a night, are not too bad either, although their gorgeous rooms probably have a higher price tag.
That said, My Friends hostel isn’t too much farther away, and it has similar-to-higher ratings compared to 7 Florence B&B. At rates from $21, My Friends is a great option for those who would rather spend less on accommodations and more on, say, wine and cheese.
Whichever accommodation you choose, make sure it fits your own personality, itinerary, comfort level, and travel style. Prego…enjoy Florence!
